ChromeOS is insecure because it does not contain any security features beyond the defaults. Both the Linux Kernel and the browser are exploitable from remote without user's assistence. ChromeOS is an applied vendor lock-in, so you can't use what you want with it, but only what Google allows. All your cookies, web history and passwords can be stolen from there and it may happen that your installed software sends various statistics back to Google inc. without your notice. You probably agree with the conditions by using the software. There is no good reason why anybody should use ChromeOS or similar junkware.
